Christ Covenant Church desires to be a church where all individuals and families have the opportunity to learn about and grow in a relationship with Christ, experience Christian community, and put their God-given gifts to use serving Christ and others. We are continually striving to make Christ Covenant a more accessible place for those affected by cognitive or physical disabilities to learn, worship, and serve. And we aim to be a church where those affected by disability can find support, encouragement, and a safe place to honestly share the struggles encountered along the way with others committed to walking that road with them.
“The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,” – 1 Corinthians 12:21-22
At Christ Covenant Church, we believe that every person bears the sacred dignity of being made in the image of God and that those individuals and families who have been affected by disability are indispensable to the life and ministry of the church, having an integral role to play and unique gifts to share. If you or someone you love is affected by disability, we hope that you will visit us and let us know how we can serve and come alongside you in the name of Christ. Or if you’d like to get involved ministering to, learning from and serving with this beautiful community please look into the ministry options below. We would love to hear from you!
His Abilities Ministry
His Abilities comes alongside covenant families with advocacy, resources, and support with the goal of ensuring that Sunday worship services, classes, and church-wide activities are accessible to all members, regardless of disabilities. His Abilities envisions that all church members may be fully included in the life of the church and all of the gifts that God has given are fully utilized so that the body will be complete and the full blessings of the Lord will be known and realized. Families desiring assistance will be connected with volunteer teams who will then provide individualized levels of support, developed in conjunction with a ministry coordinator, at the family’s request.
Sunday School: Kings Community
The Kings Community class meets on Sunday mornings at 9 AM and is for teens and young people beyond that age with special learning needs or disabilities. The median age of class members is 25. Team teachers use a curriculum involving the five senses, and activities are varied. Distinctive features of this class include caring buddies who facilitate individualized learning, visible encouragement, and the extensive use of music for worship, scripture memory, missionary stories and learning fun.
