It’s the expectation we’ve encountered everything that God is doing in all of the feasts and all of the festivals and all of the sacrifices, everything He’s doing for us, so of course one chapter at the very end is going to be our worship response to Him. How can we not be moved to enter into a life of consecration to the God who dwells in our midst?
Leviticus
A Pleasing Aroma
Pastor DeYoung: Join me in prayer as we come before God’s Word. Oh, Lord, we come before you, trusting in your promise, that though you oppose the proud, You will give grace to the humble. And so we ask that we might not be among the proud. Lord, it is my prayer that I would […]
A Pleasing Aroma
Jesus is the only one who can wash away your sins. The only one who can turn away the Father’s just wrath. The only one whose death will arise into heaven as a fragrant offering. The only one who can make you a child of God instead of His enemy, so lay your hands on […]
A Pleasing Aroma
A Priestly Perspective
Give grace, our heavenly Father, that the preaching of Your Word may be proclaimed rightly with true and life-giving power. Help me to that end. And to all Your people, especially to this congregation, give Your heavenly grace that with reverent and obedient hearts they may hear and receive Your Holy Word and serve You […]
A Tale of Two Goats
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a beacon from God Himself to tell the world that all that is necessary has been accomplished, all has been paid for, all will one day be made right.
A Time to Celebrate
Acceptable Worship
By His voice, God’s voice, the earth shook. Then it says by His voice also the heavens will shake. So there’s an ending that is coming, but there is a kingdom that cannot be shaken. So all these created things will pass away, they will shake, be dissolved, destroyed, but there is a kingdom that cannot be shaken and here’s, though the word isn’t mentioned, here is what I think is the implication we’re meant to draw. His voice shakes the earth, His voice shakes the heavens, but there is a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and who is that kingdom for? It’s for those who stand before the Lord and they shake just a little, with reverence and awe.
Blood is Life
Burnt Offerings
Consequences of Sin, Cleansing for Sin
Dear God, we praise You for Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain, our sacrifice, our substitute, our High Priest, and our atonement. Speak to us, Father. Speak to us about this Jesus, through Your Word, by Your Spirit, we pray. Amen. This morning we come to the fifth and final […]
Food and Feasting
And our world, though it may think it’s miles away from Leviticus, our world reinforce salvation by food, either salvation by dieting, or salvation by partying, salvation by gluttony. And Jesus comes along and says, “You know what? True salvation doesn’t actually come by fasting. True salvation comes by feasting, feasting on the body crucified for you, on His blood shed for you.”
For I Am The Lord Who Sanctifies Them
A leader must be set apart, above reproach, and a model of integrity.
Forgetting and Remembering
Father in heaven, help us. We are easily distracted. We get tired, mind wanders, but we don’t want to waste our time. So help us to listen and not only to be hearers but to be doers, and that You would speak not just to our minds but to our hearts. We pray in Jesus’ […]
Good News, Bad News
Grace, Gratitude, and Grain
So think about this when we come to the very familiar saying of Jesus, which we read at the very beginning of the service, “You are the salt of the earth.” Now, yes, couple that with the light of world, He does mean you’re a light shining in a dark world, you’re a salt that […]
Grace, Gratitude, and Togetherness
O God, we’ve already prayed several times in this service. We come again, not merely out of form or liturgy, because we think this is how sermons start, but of a great sense of need. I need Your help, that I would speak only what was true, I would speak what is helpful for building […]
