God has blessed us and our church is growing. We need more meeting space for Sunday School and other ministries. Our sanctuary is sufficient for large gatherings but too large for more intimate services such as weddings and funerals. The current staff building is not adequate to house or maximize use of our growing staff and is not suitable for renovation. The current organ is in frequent need of costly repair and nearing its final days.
The current campaign focuses on priorities from the Christ Covenant Campus Building Plan and includes a chapel between the main and north lobbies, a meeting room/HisAbilities space between the main and south lobbies, a new administration/staff building to replace the current White House, and a new organ for the worship center.
Building additions will impact campus utility and water drainage systems requiring expert engineer evaluation and planning. We have asked the engineer to optimize Christ Covenant Church’s parking in this plan, and additional parking is anticipated at the White House building.
By God’s blessings, Christ Covenant Church is currently in a healthy financial position with a substantial reserve.
Yes, we have money in reserves to help pay for a significant portion of these projects. The Session will ultimately decide how much of this is used, subject to the amount given through the capital campaign.
The current chapel will continue to be used for smaller functions. However, over time, it has proven to be inadequate for our growing church. Advantages of a new chapel include a more functional design, improved access, and increased capacity for larger events and gatherings.
The present 100-year-old White House has been renovated multiple times. The structure of the building no longer supports an expansion as some of the existing materials used in the building no longer meet building code and safety standards. Also, space needs have increased to the point that renovation alone would not be sufficient.
Our pastoral staff currently works out of six different buildings on the Christ Covenant Church campus. Although not all pastors will move into the new building, it will concentrate a large number in one location to enhance ministry and increase efficiencies.
All of these houses will remain intact and continue to accommodate current ministry staff. However, within this current project, the land adjacent to the White House where the Youth House currently resides is being designed and prepared to support a possible companion building to the new White House should this need for space evolve down the road.
The current organ is over thirty years old and in frequent need of costly repairs. At this point, it is more cost-effective to replace the organ than to continue the repairs. In addition, an organ upgrade (the new organ will have some pipes) will facilitate worship.
The buildings that we will construct are for kingdom and gospel ministry purposes. The chapel will be a place of worship, and the White House will be a space where sermons are written, people are counseled, and teaching is developed. We have and will continue to aggressively support supported workers, but we see these buildings as housing kingdom enterprises as well.
Yes, the Session has been actively involved in the planning over several meetings this spring and unanimously approved the building plan on Thursday, May 28.
