Christ Covenant Church Update for Saturday, March 26
Dear Family and Friends,
Our usually lively campus is so quiet without all of you. Our public health emergency is teaching us to never again take our privilege of gathering together for granted. We miss you and continue to pray for God’s care for each of you. Our pastors and elders and deacons want to know how you are doing. We especially want to know about needs we can help with through our prayers and assistance. Do not hesitate to tell us how things are. Your church family can help.
You will be happy to know that our ministry to our neighbors in need is still a priority. We are a part of the Charlotte Responds Coalition, working with the Mecklenburg County Emergency Response System. Beginning Monday, you will be able to drop off non-perishable food and pantry items that we will deliver to a designated distribution point to assure that no one in our community goes hungry right now. You’ll find details for drop off in this week’s Courier.
Earlier this week Pastor Bernie Lawrence provided the first of our pastors’ weekly devotions for the church family. You will want to watch with your own family and share the link with your friends. We have been so blessed by Bernie and Pat Lawrence’s ministry at every point in our church history. As you watch this video, please pray for God’s hand on the Lawrence family as they pursue God’s new plan for them.
In cooperation with the Mecklenburg County Stay at Home Order that went into effect as of Thursday, March 26, all meetings and events on our campus are cancelled through April 16. We will continue our live-stream of Sunday worship services, morning and evening, and offer all our Holy Week services on Maundy Thursday at 7pm and Good Friday at 12pm by live-stream, too. Watch for details.
Watch, too, for a weekly prayer guide that our pastors are preparing so that we might be praying together for the physical and spiritual health of our community and all the nations touched by the COVID-19 pandemic. The guide will also help you pray for our neighbors, for our pastors and staff, for international church workers and our own families. Your prayer requests are always welcome. Call or email your pastor or shepherd or send your request to email@example.com. The staff will gather on Tuesday via Zoom for their regular weekly prayer time.
Join us for worship this Sunday at 10:45am and 6:00pm. Take advantage of the live-stream link at www.christcovenant.org. You’ll also find the order of worship and Courier links there. I will continue the sermon series from Ephesians 6: 10-20 in the morning and conclude with part four of the series in the evening. If you missed sermons one and two last Sunday you can watch them here.
Thank you for your faithful giving. We are grateful for God’s goodness in providing for our ministries and our staff. It is a privilege to serve with you as God urges us to take this unexpected break from routines to reset our priorities and turn every detail of our lives over to our Father.
In Christ Alone,
Kevin DeYoung, Senior Pastor
Sandy Spitz, Senior Director of Church Administration
