The goal of the CCYM summer internship is to provide college-aged (having completed their sophomore year) and post-college young adults the opportunity to experience full time youth ministry over the course of a summer. Interns will be given a well-rounded experience including lesson preparation, teaching opportunities, leadership in ministry events, mission trips, and group and individual discipleship. Throughout the summer, interns will be coached, mentored and spiritually cared for by the CCYM youth staff. Our aim is confirm your call to ministry, equip you with a thorough experience, and propel you into full time youth ministry.
All applications must be submitted by March 16th. Hiring decisions will be made by March 23rd.
Interns will be paid $3,000 for the 11-week summer period. The internship begins on May 18th and concludes on July 30th. If you are from out of town, we can provide a few living options for you to choose from at your request. The sooner we know of need, the more probable that these options will include free housing. Having an additional job during the time of this internship will not be possible as the internship is a 11-week full-time commitment.
CCYM Internship Job Description
General Expectations & Requirements:
Diligent effort towards a closer relationship with Christ
Age requirement: completion of Sophomore year of college (or age equivalent)
Member of a PCA church (or closely affiliated reformed denomination)
Regular attendance of worship on Sunday mornings
Relational, energetic, hardworking and creative
Main Responsibilities:
Semi-Regular teaching of Sunday school
Semi-Regular teaching of Evening Events
Team preparation and attendance of all summer events and programs
Team preparation of mission trips (including Seek the City)
Care Responsibilities: (15+ hours)
Regular discipleship of students within your ministry focus
Youth staff through one-on-ones, simple contact, and engaging with parents
Weekly ministry staff meetings (Monday mornings)
Weekly one-on-one with Summer Internship mentor
Weekly one-one-one with a Pastor (training, mentoring & prayer)
Administrative Responsibilities: (20+ hours)
A servant’s heart is a top priority for any individual desiring to minister the good news of the gospel and is a high expectation of interns. Weekly responsibilities will be assigned on Mondays to be finished by the following Monday unless otherwise stated.
Lesson preparation and curriculum development
Preparation of publications & mailings, food, communication, recruiting, transportation, etc.
Leading games, announcements, and small group discussions
Active pursuit of meeting general needs as they arise
