The Garden is our Sunday morning ministry here at Christ Covenant. It consists of three different parts: The Flower Bed, The Pond, and The Orchard. To learn more about each one, click on the box below.
Our Sunday Morning Curriculum
Christ Covenant Children’s Ministry will be working through The Biggest Story Curriculum, based on The Biggest Story Bible Storybook written by our own pastor, Kevin DeYoung. This will lead us through 104 Old and New Testament Scripture lessons that will help children understand God’s plan to redeem the world through his son, Jesus.
All children from age two through fifth grade will be learning the same passage of Scripture and Bible narrative each week in age-appropriate ways. This will provide consistency for families and great opportunities for home discipleship. We are so excited to see how this consistent study of God’s Word will help equip our children to be walking in the truth.
Sunday Evening Programming
Nurseries are available for children from birth through 2 years old.
Building Little Pillars (3 and 4-year-olds)
Our Building Little Pillars Class offers a two-year rotation utilizing Building Little Pillars and Lead Me to Zion curriculums on Sunday evenings. This class is offered during the school year, and children may be escorted to their classroom right before the sermon begins. We do hope your little one will join us!
Children’s Choir (Grades K-2)
Children’s choir for kindergarten through second grade meets during the evening worship service during the school year. Please note, choirs for grades 3-7 and grades 8-12 meet at different times during the week. Contact Liz McNulty at [email protected] for questions about choir.
Sunday Evening Curriculum
Building Little Pillars: Teaching the Foundations of the Christian Faith to Children Ages 3-6
“Like the wise man in Scripture, we want our children’s spiritual foundations to run deep, providing stability and protection. With training to set their minds on God’s truth and anchor them to resources that have strengthened the church for centuries, our children can stand strong when their faith is tested by doubt and the storms of life.” —From Building Little Pillars curriculum.
Through Bible memory, Bible stories, hands-on learning, and life applications of spiritual truths found in the Apostles’ Creed, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord’s prayer, Building Little Pillars lays a firm foundation for covenant children as they begin their journey of faith.
Lead Me to Zion: Teaching Covenant Theology to Covenant Children
We believe God’s promises extend to our children. This class seeks to remind our children of God’s covenant promises and how each promise leads us to Jesus.
Information on Safety and Security
The Children’s Ministry seeks to serve the church by educating children, equipping parents, and engaging volunteers so that the kingdom of God might be glorified. Embedded in each of these values is the responsibility and desire to keep our children safe.
We are constantly evaluating our safety policies and adhering to accepted best practices for churches and schools. We have an extensive CARE Policy (Children and Adults in a Responsible Environment) and every volunteer must be CARE-approved before serving and re-approved every five years. CARE approval includes a background check, reference checks and training. There are always two CARE-approved adults in a classroom.
To ensure children are only picked up by the correct adults, parents check in at our welcome desks and are provided with a unique tag each week, which is presented at pick-up time.
Safety within our rooms is also a high priority, so rooms are cleaned and disinfected and checked weekly to be sure everything is just right for your little one!
