Children’s Ministry – The Flower Bed

Our littlest ones begin their journey in The Flower Bed, located in the Worship Center. Here, loving team members will plant seeds of truth from God’s Word by loving children well — showing them that church is a place where they are loved, cared for and safe. Classes are available during the Sunday School hour and the Worship hour in the Flower Bed!

Placement in morning classes is loosely determined by developmental milestones.

WC 101: Daisies- Newborns until they are crawling

WC 103: Roses- Nursing Room

WC 105: Daffodils- Crawling but not yet walking

WC 109: Tulips- New walkers

WC 111: Sunflowers- Strong Walkers

In the evening, our classes are determined by age and the children GENERALLY stay in the same class all year.

WC 101: Daisies- Birth-1 years old

WC 109: Tulips- 1-2 years old

Occasionally, we will need to adjust our class lists to keep our classes as even as possible. This helps us ensure optimum safety for the children and allows our team members to love the children well.  To this end, at certain times, we may move a child to the next room early or keep them in their current classroom a little longer than usual.  We always desire to do what is best for all of our kids.

A few tips about The Flower Bed:

  • You may check your child in at the electronic check in station at the CCCM Welcome Center in the North Lobby. You will still need to sign your child in at their classroom and have your parent receipt to show the teacher at pickup!
  • Be sure all of your child’s belongings are labeled (bags, sippy cups, etc.) (You can print a label at check-in if you need one!)
  • Please keep your phone on and with you while children are in their classes. We will contact you via text if your child needs you.
  • In an effort to keep our children with allergies safe, there will be no outside food allowed in the classrooms. Children’s Ministry provides cheerios to the nursery classrooms for snack. If you would prefer that your child not have cheerios, please let the volunteers know at drop off and they will make a note.

Information on Safety and Security

The Children’s Ministry seeks to serve the church by educating children, equipping parents, and engaging volunteers so that the kingdom of God might be glorified. Embedded in each of these values is the responsibility and desire to keep our children safe.

We are constantly evaluating our safety policies and adhering to accepted best practices for churches and schools. We have an extensive CARE Policy (Children and Adults in a Responsible Environment) and every volunteer must be CARE-approved before serving and re-approved every five years. CARE approval includes a background check, reference checks and training. There are always two CARE-approved adults in a classroom.

To ensure children are only picked up by the correct adults, parents check in at our welcome desks and are provided with a unique tag each week, which is presented at pick-up time.

Safety within our rooms is also a high priority, so rooms are cleaned and disinfected and checked weekly to be sure everything is just right for your little one!
