Ministries Local Missions

Local Missions

We believe reaching the world begins at our own back door. We see our task locally as four fold:

  1. To equip the members of Christ Covenant to take the Gospel to their spheres of influence through training, coaching and teaching.
  2. To facilitate the neighborhood communities in their outreach efforts.
  3. To create and/or partner with outreach ministries to reach the city.
  4. To support local ministries of mercy and outreach.

Charlotte-area Missions

ProjectSHARE

Each month, we collect items for local missions. See the ProjectSHARE page for current lists and collection dates.

School Involvement

Volunteers participate by being reading buddies at Matthews Elementary, First Ward Elementary, and Crestdale Middle.

Seek the City

Seek the City is the “stay-at-home” summer mission trip for Christ Covenant Church. Middle school and high school youth set aside a week in the summer to serve the communities of Charlotte and Matthews. Teams of students and leaders serve all over the city: running sports camps, leading vacation Bible school, partnering with programs in the local schools for at-risk students, serving nursing homes, and completing work projects for senior citizens in our church, and more.

Mecklenburg Jail Ministry

Opportunities to lead Bible studies in the local jail.

Changed Choices

This organization provides support to female inmates while incarcerated and after they are released. For more information, go to changedchoices.org.

Lois' Lodge

This local ministry offers resources and relationships to help young women and their families experiencing an unexpected pregnancy. For more information, go to loislodge.org.

Caleb Ministries

This organization ministers to women and families who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, early-infant death or women who struggle with infertility or who are post-abortive. Please go to calebministries.org for more information.

Pregnancy Resource Center

A place of compassion, information, and support for anyone facing an unintended pregnancy. Whether a teen needs encouragement to make positive choices, a young man wants to learn how to be a positive "father" role model, or a woman dealing with grief from a past abortion, this is a place of hope and healing. Serving over 3,000 new women and men each year, touching over 13,600 clients per year (classes, phone calls, mail sent, layettes and other various programs, pregnancy testing, retesting and ultrasounds) the Center, a Christ-centered ministry, is a safe place to work through pregnancy-related issues.  All services are confidential and free of charge. Go to their website, friendsofprc.org for more information.

Get Off Our Donkey

In 2014, our Sunday Bible School did a program on seven areas of need in Charlotte: Homelessness, High School Dropouts, Human Trafficking, Refugees, Prisoners, Elderly, and Abortion. In response to this series, Christ Covenant Church is creating better ways for you to be involved in our local missions. Our Get Off Our Donkey webpage includes links to the video series and discussion videos, as well as other ways for you to be involved in the local community.
