Joel grew up in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) as a missionary and pastor’s kid. He is from Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia (UGA) with Bachelor of Arts in Religion and a Minor in History. Joel met his wife, Maddie, during their time at UGA, got married in 2015, and are expecting their first son in early September. After attending University of Georgia, Joel was on staff with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) where he was a Campus Ministry Intern. In 2018, Joel moved to Charlotte to attend Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) as a full-time student pursuing his Masters in Divinity. He is currently serving at East Charlotte Pres as a pastoral intern and with Reformed Youth Ministries’ (RYM) as the Youth Conference Director.

Joel has a wide range of experience that qualifies him as the Director of Youth Ministry here at Christ Covenant Church. Joel has been a speaker for various youth retreats, conferences, and sermons at East Charlotte Presbyterian. He has written devotionals, led large and small group discussions, and one-on-one discipleship. In his current role with RYM, Joel focuses on coordinating, developing, and shepherding a team of interns to effectively run conferences for church groups throughout the summer. Joel also has experience leading mission trips and developing curriculum for youth ministry. Joel is also a musician and plays percussion and acoustic guitar.
