Metanoia’s mission is to engage, educate, and equip the Church for the discipleship, mentoring, and reintegration of prisoners.

Here are ways you can volunteer with Metanoia Ministries:

  • Serve as a correspondence discipler! Metanoia Prison Ministries disciples hundreds of incarcerated students throughout the United States through its correspondence Bible courses. Volunteers are matched up with an incarcerated student to grade lessons and provide encouragement, instruction, and fellowship through the mail. No special theological education is necessary—this is something any church member can do. A commitment of 1-3 hours a month is required. Your personal information and address are never shared with our students or with any outside organization.
  • Serve as an in-person mentor! Metanoia Prison Ministries maintains in-person mentoring programs in certain specific prison facilities. Volunteers visit their mentees on a regular schedule, providing encouragement, instruction, guidance, and fellowship in a personal way. Mentees are encouraged in their study of God’s Word, their walk with Christ, and in their need to be connected with the visible church of Jesus Christ. While formal mentoring programs are not yet established in any NC prisons, it is possible for Metanoia to assist church members who want to serve as mentors in their local prisons or jails.
  • Serve as a Metanoia Ambassador! Metanoia Prison Ministries is in need of men and women who are willing to spread the “Metanoia Message” of hope for the incarcerated in Jesus Christ. Metanoia Ambassadors keep their local congregations or small groups informed and engaged using a variety of means including presentations, prayer groups, social media posts, etc. Ambassadors also assist with raising support for the ministry in their local area.
  • Serve as an in-prison Bible study leader! Metanoia Prison Ministries seeks qualified volunteers who can preach and teach God’s Word to those in prison. Those who are ordained to Gospel ministry, licensed to preach, or preparing for ministry under the oversight of the church, are eligible to serve as preaching volunteers. Others who are recommended by their church leadership may serve as in-person Bible study leaders. While Metanoia does not currently have any Bible studies running in the NC prison system, we are eager to connect with those who might desire to serve in this way.
  • Serve as an office volunteer or intern! Metanoia Prison Ministries is often in need of assistance with office, IT, and administrative assistance. If you have special skills you would like to use for the building of Christ’s kingdom behind the walls, please contact us with detailed information about your skills and how you would like to be involved. Such opportunities exist at our Home Office (near Covenant College) and in other places, including NC.
