Our Missionaries Scott & Ruth Hill

Scott & Ruth Hill

Cherokee, North Carolina

Scott and Ruth are involved in a ministry of Church Planting among the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Scott serves as the pastor for Grace Community Church of Cherokee. He preaches each week for the Sunday morning worship service and he leads the Wednesday evening Bible study. Ruth is involved in encouragement to women who are attending. She meets them one-on-one to talk about their needs, struggles, and successes. She prays with and for them.

”One of the greatest obstacles we face as Christians in Native American ministry is the huge push on reservations to return to ‘traditional Native American spiritual practices.’ There is call to get rid of the white man’s religion because the Native Americans were colonized and they need to be freed from this oppression, including his religion. We continue to serve here and to preach the gospel because surrender to the Lordship of Christ is the only answer to the many issues facing Native Americans today, issues of addiction, the breakdown of the family, suicide, and so on. Hope only comes through a personal relationship with Christ.”

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for Grace Community Church as we have moved into a church building which has been home to Goosecreek Baptist Church for many years. The building has not been used for over 2 years.
  • Pray that God would draw men and women to Himself through the preaching and teaching of His Word, from a Reformed theology.
  • Pray for our continued support needs. We have been running at about 93% funding. MTW has recently increased our monthly need due to the rising cost of goods and services. Pray that God would provide for this additional need.
  • Pray that God would bring men into His church. Men who could serve as future leaders in the church.
