Rick was born and raised in Ethiopia where his parents were serving as missionaries with SIM. He graduated high school from Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya, and studied Forestry at NC State University. Following school, Rick moved to Charlotte to work with an Arborist and then a large commercial landscape construction company. He joined the staff of Christ Covenant in 1998.

As Director of Operations, Rick’s role is to ensure that the development, maintenance, and repair needs associated with the facilities, grounds and equipment of Christ Covenant Church/Covenant Day School are met on a timely basis. He is responsible for planning and budgeting, facility scheduling, operations and maintenance, safety and security, campus and facility development, operations personnel supervision of 15 full time and 9 part time staff members, and serving as liaison and staff resource to all other departments, various committees and working groups from the church and school as needed. His vision is to take Operations to the next level of professionalism in each of these areas and make Christ Covenant Church/Covenant Day School a world class facility to facilitate the advancement of the Kingdom of God locally and around the world.

Rick is a Ruling Elder at Christ Covenant.  He and his wife Cameron are the parents of seven children; Kathleen 14, Caroline 12, Addison 9, Lindsay 7, Isaac 5, and twins Matthew and Lauren, age 3. They enjoy spending time together, especially when it involves the outdoors or working on family projects.
