Fall: 1 and 2 Timothy
It’s likely that you have heard of the importance of godliness since the time you first entered the church doors, whether as a child or a teen or an adult. In some circles, godliness is equated with staying away from a list of certain taboos. In other circles, it’s equated with a superior form of spirituality. But both of these means to godliness are unbiblical. If it’s so important to be godly, we need to know something about it. We need to know what godliness is, and we need to know how we get it. Paul’s first letter to Timothy answers both these questions. Godliness has everything to do with right behavior that flows from right beliefs, and the mystery of godliness is that those who are united to Christ by faith already have the key to obtain it. In his second letter to Timothy, Paul’s execution is imminent and these are his final words to his successor in ministry, and to the church in Ephesus, a church with which Paul had spent much time training in beliefs and behavior. Paul is concerned that Timothy continue in the faith he had learned in childhood and fan into flame the gift of preaching God had given him. He also wanted Timothy to be on guard against false teachers and to be prepared to suffer for living a godly life as he looked in love and expectation to Christ’s return.
Spring: Daniel
Where do you turn for help in the midst of oppression? Where do you turn for peace in the midst of war? Where do you turn for hope in the midst of devastation? The book of Daniel answers these questions and more. Throughout the book we come to learn that God is intricately involved with both the catastrophic situations of this world and the challenging circumstances of our lives. In fact, He ordains them. Behind every event, whether good or evil, is the sovereign and providential hand of God. His name is above every other name. His kingdom is greater than every other kingdom. In every event of our lives God is working for His glory and our good. Through every medical crisis, difficult marriage, challenging parenting moment, painful rejection, financial problem, and betrayal, God is with us, displaying His power, grace, holiness, love, and dominion. Through our study of Daniel, believers today will be encouraged to center their lives around God and His kingdom, especially the eternal King, Jesus Christ.
Dates, Times, Location, and Study Format
Dates: September 24, 2026 – April 15, 2027
Times: Thursdays from 10:00 – 11:30 am
Location: Community Life Center
Format: Participants meet weekly in a large group to hear a lecture on the Bible lesson from that week. They are seated at round tables that remain consistent each week, and after the lecture each table has table discussion centered on the lecture and Bible lesson from that week. Table discussions are led by a table leader at each table.
Teacher: Sarah Ivill
Childcare: This study meets weekly from 10:00-11:30am and childcare is offered for infants through preschoolers as well as elementary-aged homeschoolers.
Homework and Fees
Homework: The estimated weekly time for homework is 1-2 hours.
Bible Study Fee: $50 ($45 before August 24)
Childcare Fees (for ladies who register children for childcare): $25 for the first child, $10 for each additional child
