Bongolomzi & Sibulele Mkiva

Union Chapel Presbyterian | Church Church Planting Resident

Cape Town is home to the highest-ranked university on the African continent. Reaching this area with the gospel is vital. These students will play pivotal roles in shaping the future of South Africa and the global stage across various spheres. While the area of Cape Town can be considered a “Bible-belt” with many churches, Christianity in South Africa is very diverse, with many people proclaiming high levels of nominalism, hyper Pentecostalism, and prosperity gospel preaching. Syncretistic churches that embrace aspects of African Traditional Religion abound, even in mainline churches. The need for solid biblical churches is great. Bongo is leading a church plant and is currently mobilizing a core group of people and engaging in evangelism.

  • Pray for Bongo, Sibulele, Culolomzi and the people God puts in their path.
  • Pray for the core group of the church plant.
  • Pray for evangelism efforts.
  • Pray that in all of their ministry endeavors, the gospel will be
    central.
  • Praise the Lord for the gift of their son, born in 2024! Pray that
God will give Bongo and Sibulele wisdom to raise him and care for him in a way that glorifies God.
  • Pray for good health, physical energy, and emotional resilience for the family as they navigate the demands of church planting and family life.
  • Pray that God will hold them fast, amidst times of uncertainties related to having a church plant.
  • Pray that they will focus on a gospel perspective throughout the year.
